The inspirational fuel for this blog post comes from my Facebook posting today. I shared this article about a new product called Audible Name Tag (ANT). The technology provides correct pronunciation of names and words in the person’s own voice. It’s truly incredible.

Technology is advancing rapidly. I remember one of my middle school teachers (who taught Technology—go figure) taught our class that technology triples every two weeks. I’m not sure about the accuracy of his instruction, but regardless, his point is dead on—technology moves fast.

The computer from which I’m typing is a technological phenomenon. Our family got our first personal computer in 1994. That was only 17 years ago. I don’t remember it very well, but it was probably a beast of a machine. And now look at our computers. I can’t even keep up with all of the changes. It’s remarkable.

The cell phone—another device that has drastically changed how we communicate and conduct our lives. I’m currently watching the retired TV show, 24, which aired only a few years ago. Despite how little time has passed since, our cell phones today are light years ahead of the cell phones used on the show.

And around here at Name Tag, Inc., we have impressive machines that laser-engrave, hot-stamp and imprint your name tags, name plates, and ribbons. All with efficiency and accuracy!

Wild to think—it’s likely that by the time you have finished reading this blog post, a smaller and faster compute and/or cell phone has been made. Mind-blowing.

Our new name plates!

Now everyone can find everyone in our office! Thanks so much!

According to the Reno Air Racing Association (RARA), “at approximately 4:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 during Unlimited Class qualifying, the P-51 Mustang “Galloping Ghost,” piloted by Jimmy Leeward, crashed into the box seat area in front of the main grandstand. It is a mass casualty situation and local emergency personnel are on the scene.”- RARA, September 16, 2011

The McDonald Racer #37 pilot and crew are safe, although some dear friends were wounded by shrapnel from the crash.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of those affected by this devastating accident.

The McDonald Racer #37 team was unable to give away the Name Tag, Inc. lanyards given the event cancellation.  For the time being we wait to hear the fate of National Championship Air Racing (February 2012) and hope to give our fun lanyards away at the 2012 races.  We will keep you apprised if we hear more.

The most recent update from the Reno Air Racing Association was posted September 28, 2011 and can be read here.
