The McDonald Racer team has set three main goals for the 2010 races:
1. Actively Encouraging Children Interested in Aviation
2. Win First Place in the T-6 Gold Class
3. Break and Maintain the Air Racing Speed Record of 244.523 mph.
McDonald Racer’s Past Efforts to Encourage Children in Aviation

Actively encouraging children interested in aviation is a personal crew goal that began in 2003 when Scolari’s Food & Drug Company, a local grocer in the Reno, NV area teamed up with us as sponsors and helped us to give away Polaroid photos to children interested in aviation. Children sat in the T6 cockpit and had their photo taken at no cost.
McDonald Racer’s Current Efforts to Encourage Children in Aviation & Support Non-Profit Organizations
The McDonald Racer has teamed up with non-profit organizations such as Wings Over the Rockies, Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy, and the Denver Press Club among others.
This year we’re teaming up with Kids in Flight, Inc. in hopes of raising awareness for their outstanding organization. Kids in Flight was founded in 2003 by Maria Weybrecht. The inspiration for the organization came after Maria was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 19, just one month after obtaining her private pilot license. It had always been Maria’s dream to become a pilot, but since the diagnoses, she has not been able to pursue that goal. Although she is still battling, her love of flying remains strong. Kids in Flight has become her way of sharing the inspiration, joy and hope of flight with children and families who need it most while giving back to the amazing people who helped her along her road to recovery. If you have the means to donate, and you’re interested in supporting a great cause, please consider Kids in Flight and learn more about donating here.
As we survive off of sponsorships ourselves, we unfortunately cannot offer funds to the many outstanding non-profit organizations. Instead we do our best to raise awareness for these causes, and if we are fortunate to have sponsorship backing, we enjoy donating rides in the McDonald Racer to these organization’s silent auctions.
If you are a member of, or simply aware of, an organization which supports children in aviation, please feel free to contact our team in regards to potential promotional opportunities at: nlynn@ibgbusiness.com, or learn more about our non-profit efforts on our website here.
How Name Tag, Inc. is helping the McDonald Racer Support Children in Aviation
Thanks to Name Tag’s generous donation of 500 pins, the McDonald Racer team plans to promote Kids in Flight at the 2010 National Championship Air Races, by including them on the pin design. Although we do not have the funds to support these organizations financially, we would love to raise awareness and help promote non-profits to the best of our ability. We are currently designing the pins, and hope to have them finalized and posted on this blog next month. Stay-Tuned!
I know it’s been said before, but another Big Thanks to Name Tag, Inc.!
McDonald Racer’s Upcoming Support of “Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy”

Last but not least, if you happen to live in the Denver area, the McDonald Racer will be donating an aircraft ride to the 7th Annual Jumping Jack for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Golf Tournament and Silent Auction hosted June 28th, 2010 at the Ranch Country Club. The event raises money for Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy and their efforts to find the cure for muscular dystrophy.
