On September 10, 2011 Squad Company 41 held our 9/11 memorial mass and Brunch.  We had a large turnout from Firefighters, Families & Friends. Firefighters came from as far as California, Canada & Wisconsin just to name a few. We were also honored to have members of the United States 10th Mountain Division with us as well. Our new turnout gear rack is complete but for the weekend of September 11, we only displayed six sets of gear, six pictures and six name plates of our heroes who lost their lives ten years ago. The Captain of Squad 41, along with the officers and members would like to thank Name Tag, Inc. for their donation and helping us make our memorial a bit more meaningful. We will update in a week to show the finished rack with all of the members names. Thank You Name Tag, Inc.!!!!

As the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 comes closer we are working hard on our new gear racks.  The project is turning out great and the wood really goes well with the firehouse.  Nametag.com has donated the name plates for our project and has also included Six name plates for the members we lost on Sept. 11, 2001.  Lt. Mike Healy, Bob Hamilton, Mike Lyons, Tom Cullen, Greg Sikorsky and Bruce VanHine.  Always in our hearts…

The Old Gear Racks

Squad Company 41 in the South Bronx is a Special Operations firehouse that responds to many different types of emergencies and fires in a large geographical area.  The members of Squad 41 have been working hard preserving our older firehouse to keep the old style look to it. We decided to replace the old gear racks with newer ones but wanted the new ones to match the existing decor in the firehouse. It was decided that the renovation would coincide with the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001. Squad Company 41 lost all 6 members working that day. To honor them this year we plan on hanging six sets of gear on the new racks with their names on it. After a few days the currently assigned members will have their names placed on the newly designed racks. We searched for a while for a solution for the name plates and nametag.com provided us with a great product and was willing to give us a donation as well. We will be writing updates as the project continues and we are very grateful for the donation.
