Each August, the American Lung Association of Utah holds its celebrity dinner, A Night with the Stars. The event is held at Utah’s premier French restaurant, La Caille. A silent auction is held before dinner where all proceeds benefit the ALAU. This year’s auction items include furniture from Tai Pan Trading, restaurant gift certificates, hotel stays, and more odds and ends from Utah’s top retailers.

Celebrities from around Utah come and participate in the event. This year Miss Utah for 2007-08 will be attending along with college and professional sports figures, and TV and radio personalities. We look forward to our celebration and its mission to help fight lung disease.

The mission of the American Lung Association is to prevent lung disease and promote lung health. The ALA is the oldest voluntary health organization in the United States. Founded in 1904 to fight tuberculosis, the ALA today fights lung disease in all its forms, with special emphasis on asthma, tobacco control and environmental health. The Lung Association is funded by contributions from the public, along with gifts and grants from corporations, foundations and government agencies. The ALA achieves its many successes through the work of thousands of committed volunteers and staff.

The American Lung Association of Utah (ALAU) is part of the Southwest Region that includes Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Nevada. The ALAU has an asthma camp for children, NOT designed to help teenagers stop smoking, a Freedom From Smoking Facilitator Training to provide businesses with tobacco-free training, the Workplace Tobacco Policy where we push for more smoke-free workplaces and even working to reduce air pollution.

We have three main fundraisers Asthma Walk in the spring, Night with the Stars in August, and Tackle the Tower in February.
