Kreative Kids

June 30th, 2008 Ed Webb No comments

Kreative Kids is a 501(c) (3) non-profit, volunteer operated organization providing activities for children/persons afflicted with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) their families and their siblings. Autism Spectrum Disorder, or ASD, is a neurobiological disorder that significantly impairs a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others.  Once considered a low incidence disorder, 1 in 125 people is now afflicted with some form of ASD.

Kreative Kids is affiliated with DAFEAT (Dayton Area Families for Effective Autism Treatment), DAS (Dayton Autism Society), DANT or Dayton ANT (Dayton Autism Network Team), DARN (Dayton Asperger’s Resource Network), Just for Kids, Families with ASD based in Cincinnati and AIM for the Handicapped, all with a combined membership of over one thousand families. We strive to provide a safe environment for these groups and special needs children to learn, play and grow. All activities we provide helps to teach our “special kids” lessons in environmental issues, safety programs, wildlife management and safety, sportsmanship in individual as well as team sports and general help with everyday struggles of life.

Kreative Kids has activities and programs on a monthly to bi-weekly basis. Since the majority of families with a child on the Autism Spectrum are usually financially burdened due to medication costs and such, all of our activities are free or at a minimum charge so that everyone can participate. Kreative Kids activities have included hiking and rock climbing lessons; Archery; monthly fishing; monthly wildlife and environmental programs; miniature golf; roller skating and much, much more. We hold four large events each year as well: Our winter carnival, our annual fishing derby which is our largest event, our fall harvest party and our holiday party in December.

We are always looking for sponsoring businesses and organizations as well as volunteers. We operate solely with volunteers and donations. We would like to thank you for taking time to learn about our organization and our special kids. If you would like to make a donation, please make donation checks payable to Kreative Kids. You may contact us at any time via telephone, email or USPS. We look forward to hearing from you.
